Aowen Cao
[Ow-win Tsow]
Independent Journalist & Storyteller based in New York.
She fell in love with sound as a child in a river town in China, listening to Harry Potter tapes and whispering every line and spell until she knew them by heart — that's how she learned English, and how her world first opened through sound.
Since then, she's told stories for France Télévisions and NPR, where she spent nearly four years as Beijing producer. Her work listens closely to the overlooked, the offbeat, and the deeply personal.
Now in New York, she's still chasing that same magic in sound. She is currently pursuing an MA in Podcasting & Audio Reportage at New York University. She speaks English, Mandarin, and French.
